League of Legends

League of legends is an online multiplayer video game developed by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows.

There are 32 million active players in League of Legends. They have offices and businesses all around the world to try engage everyone to participate in the most played game all over the world (Evangelho, 2012). League of Legends otherwise known as LoL main objective is to attract every game around the world to sign-up and play the game. The Riot developers also uses their website to promote there latest campaign. In order for their website to be maintained they effectively communicate with their target audience by using images, colors and an easy to read layout to connect with their supporters all around the world.

"The size and color and placement of something is used to answer the question (Wysocki, 2004p.126). The main colors used on the League of Legends website are blue and purple. The two colors represent approximate visibility and goes well with the game. According to studies, blue is a masculine color and is highly accepted amongst males. Whilst purple is the stability of blue, it is also considered as a feminine color which can attract female gamers. Attracting female gamers means attracting more male gamers. 

League of Legends also use images on their website to effectively communicate with their latest campaigns. The different image shown on their website represents the different characters you are able to play such as Twisted Fate. A champion is another word for "character" it symbolizes what characters you are able to play in the game. There are 113 different champions from which to choose from. Each player starts of an area called a Spawning Pool, near it is called a Nexus. In order for you to win the game you have to destroy the opposing teams Nexus. To destroy the Nexus each team must go to a different types of obstacle such as turrets being placed along a path towards the Nexus.

 The website has many different varieties you can choose from such as news, game info, competitive, forums, merchandise and media. Each different links leads you to another website that offers different items you can buy or even if you're new to the game the Forums can help you out. It is a very friendly user website that teaches beginners what to do; with live tutorials and videos.  

The dominant image of the website is very eye catching and also if you click on the image it takes you to the latest news they have to offer. Also on the side of the website gives you the download links and how you can get started. This makes it really easy for new comers especially for those who have never played an online game before.

 This is the background  image of the website league of legends. The characters that are shown in the image represent the main champions you are able to choose from. The 4 characters were the first champions to be created. They also made the characters colorful to attract gamers to try engage and play the game. By using the color blue and purple represent the two main colors League of Legends uses for their website.

League of Legends also runs a charity called Make-A-Wish that helps ill children make their wish come true. Riot games have invited a league of legend fan name Joe who suffers from cancer and tour him around the studio. 

This a strategy League of Legends uses to effectively engage their visitors and gamers into their latest campaign. The layout of the website is the most important thing at the top of the page. You have to sign-up and register before you are able to play the game. Next to it is also the support button where it takes you the customer service if you need any assistance.

Another strategy Riot Game uses is have competitions and prizes. Every month they host a massive event for gamers to compete and win $1,000,000. This can captivate many people because it is the easiest and fastest way to become a millionaire. They stream videos and put them on youtube so it can be seen all around the world. This season Riot Games has announced that the winner of the next competition will receive 3 million dollars. This will definitely get everyone's attention all around the world from Europe, Asia, North America and South Korea. These parts of the world has the widest population of best gamers they can entice.

The best thing about the League of Legends website is it's free. Most multi-player online games have to be paid for before you can play. This is how Riot Games attract their supporters to play the game. That is the reason why League of Legends is one of the most successful gaming website there is.
